OK first rar/zip files are a compected folder to make it only one file so when u need somthing out of a zip file u need to extract it.

One thing about them is that they are software and it is NOT free. One download last for 40 days.U can buy a license at www.rarlabs.com so the file wont go away. U do not have to purchase a liscence if u dont mind re-downloading the zip file every 40 days. The license cost $29 US and u can use paypal. There are different Licenses like u can buy one where u can transfer it to any computers that u own.

WinRAR
Ok also u need a program called WinRAR to open rar and zip files. Also u can compress and extract any files or folder in to 1 rar file.
